Does it mystify anyone else that Daschle is the focus of so much right-wing ire? As a Democrat he's pretty weak, but there's this insistence that he's worse than a communist. I'm pretty sure these threats are scare tactics rather than actual conviction. How many times have they gotten him to back down, recapitulate, or apologize for daring to take a position? No wonder the Democrats seem to be running scared. They really do have something to be afraid of.
